Cartonal
Cartonal is a strong, lightweight polypropylene sheet used in construction and insulation projects to protect layers from damage. It is water-resistant and easy to install.
Overview
Cardboard panels are among the latest methods of protecting insulation layers, as they provide a safe layer that prevents cracks and are superior to traditional methods because they are made of the finest types of plastic, which ensures effective and long-lasting protection for insulation surfaces in various projects.
Technical specifications
Made from high-quality polypropylene, it is strong and flexible.
It does not react with water, acids, or solvents, making it resistant to chemical corrosion.
It has a long service life and high durability under various operating conditions.
It is resistant to moisture and heat and unaffected by weathering.
Available in 1m x 2m sizes to suit various applications.
Available in different thicknesses: 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm.
It is lightweight and easy to install and remove without damaging the insulation layers.
Areas of use
Protection of Insulation Layers (Membrane): Cartonal is used as a protection layer after installing the insulation to prevent cracks or damage resulting from mechanical works or movement on the surface.
Concrete Floors and Foundations: Cartonal is placed over concrete surfaces to protect them during construction phases or before finishing, ensuring the insulation remains in excellent condition.
Roofs and Walkways during Construction: It acts as a temporary cover to protect floors and surfaces during the passage of equipment or during maintenance and finishing works.
Infrastructure Projects and Ground Insulation: It is used to protect insulation layers in tanks, tunnels, and areas exposed to moisture or high pressure.
Interior Finishes and Temporary Exhibitions: Suitable for covering floors to protect them from scratches or stains during painting or installation works.
How to Use and Apply
1. Surface Preparation
Ensure the installation of insulation layers (membrane, bitumen, polyethylene, etc.) is complete.
Clean the surface of any impurities or sharp materials that may affect the Cartonal.
Ensure the surface is dry before spreading the sheets.
2. Spreading the Sheets
Lay the Cartonal side-by-side to cover the entire area without leaving exposed gaps.
Consider the orientation of the sheets according to the surface shape to ensure effective coverage.
At corners and curves, the sheets can be cut and shaped as needed.
3. Installation and Fastening
Secure using moisture-resistant adhesive tape or fastening pins, depending on the floor type.
Ensure the edges and corners are well-secured to avoid movement during work.
In areas subject to pressure or movement, using two overlapping layers is preferred.
4. Use During Construction or Maintenance
Use as a temporary cover to protect floors from scratches, stains, or damage during finishing works.
Easily removed after the works are finished and can be reused without losing its properties.
